Veenker Memorial Golf Course is a premier public golf facility owned and operated by Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The course opened for play in 1938 and was the vision of George F. Veenker, former ISU athletic director and football coach. A Perry Maxwell design, Veenker has since become one of the most talked about, demanding, challenging and fun-to-play golf courses in the Midwest.
It is host to the Iowa Masters, an invitational golf tournament that is one of the Iowa Golf Association's major tournaments. The tournament has historically been the standard by which other tournaments around the state pattern themselves. The committee that runs the Iowa Masters dedicates themselves to preserving the history of the tournament while continuing to improve it for the benefit of amateur golfers.
The Iowa Masters is also a World Amateur golf rankings event.
